Man charged with breaking and entering, theft

A Westminster man, who used to live in the first block of W. George St., was held on $40,000 bond on 10 charges of twice breaking into the J&B Plumbing Co., in the same block, in August, according to police.

Dennis Rhoten, 32, who gave police no permanent address, was arrested yesterday and charged with breaking into the plumbing company between Aug. 5 and 8 and Aug. 29 and 30, police said.

Mr. Rhoten is charged with two counts each of breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, breaking and entering to steal, breaking and entering a storehouse, malicious destruction of property and theft, police said.

The trial date has been set for Nov. 1.

POLICE

* Westminster: A resident of Union Street reported someone stole his 1968 Buick Skylark GS 400 from the lot of the Sheetz convenience store on East Main Street Sunday. He estimated its value at $4,500.

A resident of Liberty Street told police someone stole a compact disc player from his house Sunday. He estimated the loss at $135.

An antique pottery jug valued at $200 was stolen Sunday from the front yard of a house on Charles Street.

A resident of East Green Street reported someone stole his $40 bicycle from his yard Sunday.

A blue 1981 VW Jetta, valued at $1,000, was stolen Friday from in front of a house on Lincoln Road.

* Finksburg: A resident of the 2000 block of Herbert Ave., near Westminster, told state police someone broke the driver's window of his auto while it was parked on Cedarhurst Road and stole a pager, skateboard and an assortment of cassette tapes Sunday. He estimated the loss at $480.

FIRE

* Westminster: Firefighters from the Westminster station responded to a call of wires down in the 2000 block of Coon Club Road at 10:42 p.m. Saturday. They were out for 30 minutes.

Engines from Westminster, Reese, Gamber, Hampstead and Baltimore County were dispatched to a house fire in the 1100 block of Tall Pines Drive at 7:37 p.m. Friday. Units were out for 26 minutes.

* Reese: Engines from Reese and Westminster responded to a fire alarm in a building in the 1900 block of Bethel Road at 8:16 p.m. Friday. Units were out for 20 minutes.
