* Scores of people from Anne Arundel County visited the Italian battleship Conte di Cavour at anchor in Annapolis Roads on its goodwill visit to the Naval Academy. The Navy provided a subchaser to carry visitors to the ship. -- The Sun, Oct. 27, 1919.

* Starting in November, the barbers of Annapolis will raise the price of a shave to 20 cents and that of a haircut from 35 to 40 cents. The high cost of materials is said to be the principal cause. -- The Sun, Oct. 28, 1919.

* King Albert of Belgium and his son Prince Leopold were received at the Naval Academy with impressive ceremonies. Albert is the first king to set foot on Maryland soil. He said he was much impressed by the appearance of the midshipmen and by the buildings at the academy. Governor and Mrs. Harrington were in the welcoming party. -- The Sun, Oct. 31, 1919.
