Folk festival

The 37th annual Springs (Pa.) Folk Festival will be held Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on grounds adjacent to the Springs Historical Museum near Grantsville in Western Maryland. The museum houses a large collection of artifacts used by early Springs settlers. Among the pioneer skills demonstrated will be maple sugaring, apple butter boiling, log hewing, spinning, weaving and tinsmithing. Craftspeople will offer contemporary handicrafts, and there will be musical entertainment and Pennsylvania Dutch food. Admission is $4 for those over 12; $1 for ages 6 to 12; free for children 5 and under. Call (814) 662-4158.
