September 30, 1994

Two Baltimore women were arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with shoplifting more than $500 worth of merchandise from a T.J. Maxx store in the 8100 block of Ritchie Highway, county police said.

Joyce Brown, 53, of the 2500 block of E. Cold Spring Lane and Audrey Beverly Smith, 53, of the 600 block of N. Rosedale St. were charged with theft over $300.

A store security manager saw two women put clothes under their dresses and leave the store without paying for them. The manager detained the women until an Eastern District officer arrived, police said.

One of the women was wearing more than $300 worth of clothes on her and the other was wearing more than $200 worth of clothes, police said.
