Republican club plans fashion show

The Republican Women's Club of Carroll County will present the 1994 Republican victors at a Republican Fashion Show at 7 p.m. today at the VFW hall on Poole Road in Westminster.

Leggett Department Store will provide fashions. A donation of $7 is requested and includes dessert.

Women's fair group plans networking event

The Carroll County Women's Fair Committee will sponsor a networking event from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 11 in Room 157 at Carroll Community College.

Pat Sueck will speak on image and presentation in a talk titled "Be All That You Can Be."

The committee organizes an annual fair in March.

Turfgrass Field Day to be held Saturday

In conjunction with the Don't Bag It program, the Carroll County Extension Office, Smith Avenue, Westminster, will sponsor a Turfgrass Field Day from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The event will provide a comprehensive review of poor lawns, establishing and caring for new lawns, maintaining a lawn, plus demonstrations on a section of grass.

Demonstrations on a variety of lawn care equipment available for rent, including proper use and operation, will be offered. Homeowners may bring their fertilizer-seed cart with them for staff to calibrate for proper disbursement of materials.

Two more seminars also are scheduled to discuss common lawn diseases and their prevention, and alternative to pesticides for insect control.

Both slide-lecture programs will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Eldersburg Library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive, and repeated at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ag Center, Smith Avenue, Westminster.

The Don't Bag It program is a cooperative effort between the Carroll County Government and Extension Service.

The program focuses on comprehensive turf management through nutrient management, integrated pest management and grass cycling.
