Where to join fashion's fight

Many fashion-minded organizations are doing their bit to help the fight against breast cancer. Here's a sampling of nearby events.

* The Race for the Cure serves up a pasta party tomorrow at Saks Fifth Avenue in Owings Mills. Pasta, prizes, a silent auction and shopping are part of the package. Party tickets are $15 for Race entrants and $25 for rooters. Saks will close to the public at 6:30 p.m., and admission will be by party ticket only.

* Owings Mills Mall and shops' schedule of events throughout October:

Pink rhinestone breast cancer awareness pins will be sold at mall stations for $15.

Glamour Shots will donate all of its $11 sitting fee.

The Mildred Mindell Cancer Foundation will be selling its "Lettuce Surprise You" cookbook on Oct. 8 and 9 with 20 percent of sales going to the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Customer Service Center sponsors an "I've Had a Mammogram Test" shopping spree registration card. Call (410) 363-1234 for details.

* Nordstrom schedules two breast cancer prosthesis seminars with fitting experts for bras, lingerie and accessories. Cosmetics coordinators will also demonstrate cleansing and makeup techniques. A continental breakfast will be served.

* The RTW Review, an industry newsletter, has created a line of "Say It With Fashion" sketched greeting cards with 25 percent of sales going to support cancer research. The 12 cards, $12.95 plus shipping, can be ordered at (414) 425-5503.
