All library branches to close Friday

All branches of the Anne Arundel County Public Library will be closed Friday for a staff meeting.

A5 Branches will reopen Saturday with regular hours.

Literacy Council provides tutors

The Anne Arundel Literacy Council offers help to people lacking reading skills.

The Glen Burnie and Annapolis offices are open from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Gilchrest accepting academy applications

Rep. Wayne T. Gilchrest, a 1st District Republican, is accepting applications for nomination to the four U.S. service academies.

Applications are due Nov. 1 for the 1995 Christmas in April Program, which fields volunteers to repair homes of low-income, senior and disabled residents who cannot make the repairs themselves.

The Anne Arundel County Board of Supervisors of Elections needs registered voters to staff polling places during the general election Nov. 8.
