Installation Shabbat to be held Friday

Temple Isaiah will hold its Board Installation Shabbat on Friday. Shabbat services begin at 8:30 p.m. in the temple sanctuary in the Oakland Mills Meeting House.

Susan Wakshul will be installed as president of the congregation; Michael Baker is executive vice president; Jeff Dreifuss is financial vice president; Ellen Cohen is membership vice president; Donna Kaplan is religious vice president; Rochelle Eisenberg is secretary; and Rohne Schwartz is treasurer.

Bookstore to feature books that were banned

In observance of Banned Book Week through Saturday, Cover To Cover Bookstore/Cafe in the Village of Owen Brown will display books that were challenged or banned, including James Joyce's "Ulysses," Mark Twain's "Tom Sawyer," the "American Heritage Dictionary" and the Bible.

The bookstore also will offer a list of challenged books and reasons for banning. Information: 381-9200.
