An Annapolis man was in serious but stable condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after a Friday evening accident in which his motorcycle collided head-on with a Toyota station wagon, county police said.

Thomas Wayne Ford, 19, of the 200 block of Legion Way was riding his 1993 Kawasaki Ninja 600 south on Solomons Island Road about 7:30 p.m. when he braked for slowing traffic near Mayo Road, police said.

As Mr. Ford released his brakes, he swerved into oncoming traffic and ran into the station wagon driven by Daniel James Fratino, 30, of the 500 block of Highland Drive in Edgewater, police said.

No one in the station wagon was injured, police said.
