Raincliffe Center rezoning petition to be discussed

September 26, 1994

Sykesville will have a public hearing on the petition to rezone Raincliffe Center from industrial to residential use at 7 p.m. today in the Town House meeting room, 7547 Main St.

The Town Council will hear comments from residents and the developer of the 32-acre property at Raincliffe Road and Route 32.

David Moxley, the owner of the property, which is the town's only industrial-zoned land, has asked the town to rezone the site.

Residential zoning would allow him to proceed with plans to build 192 townhouses.

The town's Planning and Zoning Commission has studied Mr. Moxley's proposal for several months and has recommended that the parcel remain industrial.

The council has final authority on the petition.

Information: 795-8959.

* Sykesville: Firefighters from Sykesville responded to a house fire in the 2300 block of Marriottsville Road at 1:11 p.m. Friday. They were out for 47 minutes.
