Ohio State -- Dropped G Greg Simpson (11.0 ppg), already on suspension for a series of brushes with the law, from the basketball team after he was arrested and charged with assault.

Philadelphia Eagles -- Signed OL Tom McHale (Maryland) to a one-year contract.

Buffalo Sabres -- Assigned D Mark Astley, C Todd Simon, LW Matthew Barbaby and Jason Young to AHL Rochester.

Los Angeles Kings -- Agreed to terms with RW Rich Tocchet on a four-year contract.
