September 23, 1994

A 26-year-old Severn man who was stopped early Wednesday for running a stop sign at New Freetown Road and Whitaker Road was charged with drug violations after Eastern District officers searched his car, county police said yesterday.

The officers stopped a man driving a 1987 Plymouth shortly after 12:30 a.m. for running the stop sign.

When the man opened a fanny pack to get his driver's license, the officers noticed a plastic bag used for packagings, police said.

The officers found an ounce of suspected cocaine in the bag, suspected cocaine in a vial and packaging material, police said.

Len Price Jr. of the 8300 block of Ches-Mar Court, Severn, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of packaging material and possession with intent to distribute cocaine within 1,000 feet of an elementary school.

Freetown Elementary School is about two blocks from the corner where the suspect was arrested.
