Towson falls in field hockey

Melanie Taube scored two goals and Chrissy Holak had a pair of assists as host St. Joseph's (3-2-1) held off a rally by Towson State (0-4-0) for a 3-2 field hockey victory yesterday.

* Notre Dame 5, Wilson 0: Julie Desmond scored four goals, and College of Notre Dame (3-4) held Wilson (0-3) without a shot on goal.

* Washington College 5, Haverford 3: Nicole Mills scored two goals to lead Washington College (3-1).

* York 2, Villa Julie 1: Laurie Tidwell's goal with 6:22 remaining lifted host York College.

* Johns Hopkins 2, W. Md. 1: Erin Feehley scored on a penalty stroke, lifting host Johns Hopkins (2-3) past Western Maryland (3-2).


* Goucher 4, York 3: Radcliffe Roye scored two goals to lead the host Goucher College men (4-2-1).

* Goucher 4, W. Md. 0: Kristen Carey scored two goals for host Goucher (7-0) in a women's game.

* Johns Hopkins 4, Villa Julie 0: Four women scored as Johns Hopkins improved to 1-1-1.
