Schmidt's goals lift Severna Park in field hockey

Krissy Schmidt scored two goals, leading No. 1 Severna Park (1-0) to a 2-1 victory over host Severn (2-1) yesterday in field hockey. Joyce Wu scored the only goal for Severn.

* Hammond 2, Seton Keough 1: Jenny Pollock scored two goals for host Hammond (1-0). Karen Geppi scored Seton Keough's lone goal.

* McDonogh 2, Mount Hebron 0: Jenny Bennethum and Kristin Ward each scored second-half goals to pace visiting McDonogh (2-0).

* Bel Air 2, Glenelg 0: Joie Acosta scored a goal and had an assist and Amy Lang added a goal, helping host Bel Air (1-0) past Glenelg (0-2).

* Atholton 1, Lackey 0: Leah Nichols scored on an assist from Kathryn Glasgow as host Atholton won.

* Annapolis 1, Calvert 0: Lisa Jewell scored with 13:50 left in the second half to help visiting Annapolis top Calvert.

Boys soccer

* Severna Park 7, Old Mill 0: Scott Vane scored three goals and Ryan Scaffe added two goals to lead the Falcons (1-0) past visiting Old Mill. J.T. Carhart added a goal and two assists for Severna Park.

* Gilman 2, John Carroll 1: Chris McLamb and Yani Rosenberg each scored a goal, leading visiting Gilman (3-0) over John Carroll. Mike Stallings scored John Carroll's goal.

* Fallston 2, Loyola 0: David Peterson and Mike Guiffrida each scored a goal to help Fallston (2-0) shut out host Loyola (1-1-1).

* Bel Air 4, Dundalk 0: Jason Lockerman scored two first-half goals to lead host Bel Air (1-1).

* Towson Catholic 4, Rock Church 2: Brad Cox had two goals and two assists to lead host Towson Catholic past Rock Church.

* Park 3, City 1: Geoff Reed scored a goal and had an assist for host Park.

Girls soccer

* Chesapeake-AA 2, Howard 2: Visiting Chesapeake and Howard played to a double-overtime tie. Karen Krupka put Howard up 2-1 in the second half, but Chesapeake later tied the game. Melissa Wagner and Stacey Reynolds scored for Chesapeake.

* Franklin 18, Poly 0: Erin Watson scored four goals and Sarah Gustafson added three, leading host Franklin (1-0) past Poly (0-1). Twelve players scored for the Indians.

* Mercy 3, Spalding 1: Heather Miskiewicz scored two goals to lead visiting Mercy past Spalding.

* Notre Dame Prep 4, Severn 1: Courtney Walker scored two, first-half goals to lead visiting Notre Dame Prep (1-0). Jen Morris and Amy Renner added single goals. Carol Prickett scored the lone goal for Severn (0-3).

* John Carroll 3, Catholic 2: Brittany Whitehurst, Amy Getzinger and Meredith Gunning each scored a goal in the second half as visiting John Carroll (1-0-1) rallied past Catholic (1-1).

* Liberty 4, Mount Hebron 3: Natalie Hannibal scored on a crossing pass with 10:00 to play to break a 3-3 tie to lead visiting Liberty past Mount Hebron.

* Glen Burnie 2, Annapolis 1: Sam Miller scored two goals, including the game winner with 34 minutes remaining, lifting visiting Glen Burnie (1-0) over Annapolis (0-2).

* Atholton 4, Northeast 2: Stephanie VanDeusen scored two goals to pace visiting Atholton (1-0-1).
