CORE Corp. has received a research grant from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to study if links exists between single and multi-unit commercial nuclear generating station operator effectiveness and simulator training.

* INTELSAT, the international telecommunications satellite organization, elected Betty C. Alewine, president of COMSAT World Systems, as chairman of the board of governors.

* Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland elected Malcolm Tatlor chairman of the board.

* Fast & Associates was named advertising and marketing agency for Architectural Hardscapes' Unlimited Inc.

* Advance Business Systems has contracted BGE to a five-year agreement with its newly created integrated systems division for copier and office equipment service and supplies.

* Freed & Associates added 14 North Carolina markets to its list of Precision Tune automotive center ad contracts.

* American Lock & Supply has opened its East coast distribution center in Elkridge.

* GalaxSea Cruises, a travel agency representing major cruise lines, opened an office in the Westpark Shopping Center on the Baltimore National Pike.

* Katz Insurance Agency opened a branch in the Edgewater Village Shopping Center.

* Thomas C. Jackson, an associate of Casey & Associates/ONCOR International, was named a certified commercial investment member by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute.

* Jerry Hulick received the General Agents & Management Association's career development, national management and master agency awards.

* Bob Baumgartner, of Riverside Marine, received the Bayliner Jack Purcell Award for marketing excellence.
