3 historians to discuss Gettysburg battle

Three local historians will talk about the battle of Gettysburg Saturday at Western Maryland College's Alumni Academic Homecoming.

The one-day learning session for alumni and friends of the college will include a bus tour of Gettysburg National Military Park and a showing of the movie "Gettysburg."

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at the Lewis Hall of Science. Presentations will start at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be in McDaniel Lounge from noon to 1 p.m. Registration for the day is $50.

Jay Graybeal, director of the Historical Society of Carroll County, will speak on "The Civil War in Westminster and Carroll County."

Tom Gordon, owner of Silver Image Antiques of Westminster, will discuss "Relics of the War."

Ray Hock, re-creator of Civil War-era garments, will talk about "Civil War-era Garments."

The bus tour of Gettysburg National Military Park will leave at 1 p.m. from Alumni Hall and return by 5 p.m. for dinner in McDaniel Lounge.

At 6:30 p.m., "Gettysburg" will be shown, with a question and answer session led by James Wilberger, executive in charge of production.
