BALTIMORE CITY

* BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Stereo equipment valued at $800 was stolen from a house in the 2800 block of The Alameda between Tuesday and Wednesday.

* BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone entered a house in the 3200 block of Chesterfield Ave. through a bathroom window Wednesday and stole jewelry valued at $700.

* THEFT: Northeastern District -- A wallet, $500, checks, clothing and a diaper bag were stolen from a car parked in the 5700 block

of Anthony Ave. between Tuesday and Wednesday.

BALTIMORE COUNTY

* STANDOFF:Cockeysville Precinct -- A guest at Marriott's Hunt Valley Inn who threatened to shoot himself inside his room Wednesday night was arrested early yesterday without incident. For more than four hours, the man stayed in his room while police manning a nearby telephone attempted to persuade him to surrender. At one point, the man talked to his brother, who aided police in their attempt to persuade him not to kill himself. About 4:30 a.m., the man, who is married and the father of four children and whose identity was withheld, reportedly entered the hotel lobby and gave himself up. He was taken to the precinct, where charges against him were pending. Police found a shotgun in the man's room. During the incident, several guests on the man's floor were evacuated.

* MAN SHOT: Garrison Precinct -- A 43-year-old resident of the 100 block of Greenview Ave. in Reisterstown was cleaning a .22-caliber rifle in his living room Wednesday night when the weapon discharged, sending a bullet into the man's right shoulder and out his back. The man is in serious condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

* BURGLARIES: Garrison Precinct -- Someone entered two houses under construction in the 4300 block of Star Circle between Tuesday and Wednesday and attempted to steal property. In one house, nothing was stolen, but a door valued at more than $100 was damaged. In the other house, the intruder attempted to steal a dishwasher.
