Man found on groundwith a head injury

September 06, 1994

A Baltimore man was treated and released at Harbor Hospital Thursday morning after a Northern District officer found him on the ground, bleeding from the head, near Camp Meade Road and Benton Avenue in Linthicum, county police said.

William John Barnes, 18, of Lakeland was taken to the hospital after Officer Steven Saffield found him on the ground under a pay phone at Shipley Shopping Center shortly before 12:30 a.m., police said.

Mr. Barnes told Officer Saffield that he was walking on the road, drinking and looking for a friend's house when someone hit him in the head. Mr. Barnes did not see his assailant and did not know what he was hit with, police said.

The victim had some gold chains, cash and a beeper still on him, so robbery probably was not a motive for the attack, police said.
