Michael Gribble, 42, co-creator of the Mike & Spike Festival of Animation, died in San Diego of pancreatic cancer Tuesday. He and his longtime friend, Craig "Spike" Decker, began their animated film venture 18 years ago. By 1991, the touring festival of animated shorts had moved to 50 cities in the United States and Canada.

Charles Horne, 48, a playwright who detailed his battle against AIDS for a newspaper, died Friday in Syracuse, N.Y. In the past year, Mr. Horne wrote occasional columns for the Herald-Journal of Syracuse. His play-writing credits included "The Smoking Room," a drama set in a hospital AIDS ward. He also wrote and produced "Our Sisters Are Dying," a 30-minute documentary about women and AIDS.
