* A few weeks ago, a speed officer came to town surprising several of our automobilists, while early Wednesday morning an officer of the W. M. Ry. Co. came to town and bagged four persons for trespass and leaving a warrant in local hands for the arrest of three more. The fine for each amounted to $6. It has been the custom of many for several years to go into the empty grain cars and tear the boards loose and gather the wheat which in some cases amounted to several bushels per car. We have repeatedly warned persons against this practice, as well as the violations of the motor traffic laws, and it is not likely that this will be the last visit from these officers. -- Union Bridge Pilot, Aug. 15, 1919.
