DEATH ELSEWHERE

August 30, 1994

Roberto Goyeneche, 68, a singer and one of the last great tango stars, died Saturday of kidney and heart failure in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Known as "Polaco," the Pole, because of his fair skin and blond hair, he made more than 100 records over his 40-year career.

The Most Rev. Vincent M. Leonard, 85, bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh for 14 years, died Sunday of complications from pneumonia. The lifelong Pittsburgh resident became a priest in 1935 and rose through the ranks of the diocese to become bishop in 1969. He retired in 1983. He served on the National Conference of Catholic Bishops' anti-abortion committee and the medical committee of the U.S. Catholic Conference.
