Wynn endorses Dupuy in District 14

Michael Dupuy, Democratic candidate for the District 14 state Senate seat has been endorsed by U.S. Rep. Albert R. Wynn, a 4th District Democrat.

Mr. Dupuy served on the steering committee for the Clinton/Gore campaign and has been a precinct chair for several years. As precinct chair, he has helped the Democratic candidates at the local, state and federal levels.

State FOP backs Mundy for Senate

Jim Mundy, a candidate for the state Senate in District 14, has been endorsed by the Maryland State Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Mundy had already been endorsed by 15 other organizations including the Maryland State Teachers' Association and the Maryland State AFL-CIO.

Democrats plan 'Snack and Chat'

The Democratic Voter's Citizen's Choice Rally "Snack and Chat" will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at 391 Deep Run Parkway, in Elkridge.

Invited candidates include Sen. Paul S. Sarbanes, Parris N. Glendening, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Del. Virginia Thomas, Wanda Hurt, Frank Turner and Councilman C. Vernon Gray.

Democrats to hold Labor Day picnic

The Howard County Democratic Central Committee will hold its annual Labor Day picnic from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 5 at Cedar Lane West, off Route 108.

Dhillon to hold public reception

The public can meet Neil Dhillon, a Democratic candidate for Congress from the 6th District, at a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Uncle Y. Y.'s Restaurant on Route 40 at Rogers Avenue in Ellicott City.

Friends of Willis plan celebration

The Friends of Casey Willis will sponsor a gala celebration from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sept. 9 at the Turf Valley Country Club in Ellicott City.

Carolyn "Casey" Willis is a Democratic candidate for the House of Delegates in District 14.

AARP set to hold candidate forum

The American Association of Retired Persons Howard County will meet at 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Florence Bain Senior Center. The meeting will feature candidates for the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.

Flapjack Fest set by Senator McCabe

State Sen. Christopher J. McCabe's fourth annual Fall Flapjack Fest will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Howard County School of Technology, 10920 Route 108 in Ellicott City.

Featured will be a silent auction, Redskins ticket raffle, pumpkins for sale and brunch.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 14. Children under 5 eat for free. Information: 531-2870.

Democratic Club to hold meeting

The Ellicott City Democratic Club will hold its primary endorsement meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Miller branch of the Howard County Library, 9421 Frederick Road.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for members and nonmembers to meet federal, state and local candidates.
