William C. Volz Aeronautical engineer

William C. Volz, a retired aeronautical engineer, died Aug. 15 of complications after surgery at University Hospital. The Fairlee resident was 68.

Before his retirement in 1981, Mr. Volz worked for 30 years for the U.S. Navy in aeronautical research and development, most recently at the Naval Air Systems Command in Arlington, Va.

Born in Pikesville, he earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Catholic University.

A memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on High Street, Chestertown.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Volz; three sons, Christian Volz of San Francisco, John O'Neil Volz of Baltimore and Stephen Volz of Silver Spring; three daughters, Margaret Volz of Bethesda, Regina Volz of Easton and Katherine Volz of Takoma Park; a brother, Edward Volz of Marina del Mar, Calif.; a sister, Marty V. Kaufman of Towson; and eight grandchildren.

The family requests contributions to the Maryland Transplant Resource Center, 1540 Canton Center Drive, Suite R, Baltimore 21127.
