Reception to be held for candidate Dhillon CAMPAIGN 1994

The public can meet Neil Dhillon, candidate for Congress from the 6th Congressional District, at a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 31 at Uncle Y.Y.'s Restaurant, on Route 40 at Rogers Avenue in Ellicott City.

The Maryland Federation of Democratic Women, Howard County Chapter, will have a pool party at 6 p.m. on Aug. 24 at 5374 Flight Feather in Columbia.

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ron Franks will be campaigning in Howard County tomorrow as part of a "whistle-stop" trip through the state.

Mr. Franks will be accompanied by local and state candidates in a vehicle designed to look like a train and will make a stop at the Howard County Fairgrounds and participate in the fair parade.


Anyone wishing to receive a "Ron Franks for U.S. Senate" yard sign can pick one up at the county's Miller Branch Library on Frederick Road from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The American Association of Retired Persons Howard County will meet at 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at Florence Bain Senior Center. The meeting will feature candidates running for the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.

Each candidate will be allowed to state his or her views for one minute on the national health care plan.

The audience will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates.

The five Democrats and four Republicans who have filed as candidates in the delegate race in Maryland Legislative District 12A have been invited to participate in a candidates forum sponsored by United We Stand America of Maryland, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Arbutus branch of the Baltimore County Library.

Each candidate will be requested to present a five-minute introduction and outline why he or she should be elected. Candidates will take questions from the audience.

Voters are requested to bring written questions, which will be selected by the moderator at random.

The moderator will be James F. Oglethorpe, 3rd Congressional District coordinator and chairman of the UWSA-MD.


The Ellicott City Democratic Club will hold its primary election endorsement meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Miller Branch of the Howard County Library, 9421 Frederick Road.

The meeting will be an opportunity for members and nonmembers to greet and speak to federal, state and local candidates.


Marna McLendon, candidate for state's attorney, will raffle off a week in Freeport, Bahamas, at the Bahamas Princess Condominiums. Transportation not included.
