'Classic' Camaro stolen in Sykesville

A 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, described as a "classic," was stolen from a fenced Sykesville compound where it was being stored for restoration, according to state police.

Police said it was reported stolen from McQuays Auto Supply in the 4300 block of Bartholow Road between 10 p.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday.

The red sports-type car, which was "clean and in good condition," was being restored to be placed in auto shows, according to a friend of the owner.

The car belongs to a resident of the 7400 block of Spout Hill Road, who said the vehicle is valued at $5,000, according to police.

FIRE

* Sykesville: Firefighters from Sykesville responded to a call of wires down at Liberty Road and Berkley Drive at 5:01 p.m. Saturday. They were out for two hours.

Sykesville engines responded to a call of wires on fire in the 6600 block of Liberty Road at 4:43 p.m. They were out for 16 minutes.

Firefighters from Sykesville assisted Howard County in investigating a fire alarm in a building in the 12900 block of Frederick Road at 10:55 a.m. Saturday. They were out for seven minutes.
