BALTIMORE CITY

* ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 4000 block of Elderon Ave. was in the 4000 block of W. Garrison Ave. Sunday afternoon when a gunman robbed him of nearly $40.

* STOLEN CAR: Northwestern District -- A 1984 Honda Prelude with Maryland tags SCU 790 was stolen Sunday from the 6500 block of Reisterstown Road.

* BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Someone entered a garage in the 3300 block of Barrington Road over the weekend and stole a lawn mower and weed eater, all valued at more than $300.

* ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Two men robbed a resident of the 6500 block of Reisterstown Road of $2 in the 3600 block of Fords Lane Sunday afternoon. During the robbery, one of the men implied he was armed.

* STOLEN CAR: Southwestern District -- A 1991 Dodge Caravan with tags 296936M was stolen over the weekend from the 400 block of S. Chapelgate Lane.

* STOLEN CAR: Southwestern District -- A 1990 Ford Taurus with tags BBX 030 was stolen from the 100 block of Collins Ave. over the weekend.

* ASSAULT: Southwestern District -- Police were seeking a man who attacked a resident of the 3000 block of Massachusetts Ave. in the first block of S. Caton Ave. Sunday and stabbed him in the chest with a 9-inch knife. The knife caused a laceration longer than an inch and injured the victim's lung. The victim was taken to St. Agnes Hospital.

* THEFT: Southwestern District -- A battery valued at more than $70 was stolen from a car parked in the 4400 block of Edmondson Ave. Saturday.

* ASSAULT: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 2900 block of Poplar Terrace was attacked near his home Sunday by a man who struck him on the shoulder with a hammer. The victim refused medical treatment at the scene. The assailant was being sought.

BALTIMORE COUNTY

* MURDER TRY/ARREST: Essex Precinct -- An 18-year-old man was arrested Sunday and charged with attempting to kill another man during an argument over a woman. The victim was at his home in the 1400 block of Browning Drive when the suspect entered the house with a loaded handgun and pointed it at the victim. While the two men struggled over the gun, a witness to the incident called the police. Before police arrived, the victim managed to retrieve the gun. Neither man was injured. Phillip Vancouignen, of the 900 block of Foxridge Lane, was arrested by Officer Darren Minor and charged with attempted murder and related offenses and was being held at the county Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond.

* BURGLARY: Essex Precinct -- An outdoor cooking grill valued at $40 was stolen from the deck of a house in the 6700 block of Mallard Road Sunday. Police were seeking a suspect in the case.

* CHURCH BURGLARY/ARREST: White Marsh Precinct -- Police responding to a burglar alarm at the Church of the Annunciation in the 5200 block of McCormick Ave. early Sunday morning arrested a man who was attempting to enter. No property was reported missing.

* ROBBERY: White Marsh Precinct -- A man with a knife robbed Papa D's Deli in the 10700 block of Pulaski Highway of an undisclosed sum of money Sunday morning.
