8 'Expeditions in the Arts' scheduled

The Carroll County Arts Council has announced its schedule of eight "Expeditions in the Arts" bus trips from September through May 1995.

Most of the monthly one-day trips cost less than $50 and are open to nonmembers of the Arts Council.

Each trip has a deadline for reservations. Seats will be reserved when payment is received.

All trips will leave Cranberry Mall on Route 140 adjacent to Long John Silver's restaurant.

Those with disabilities requiring special assistance should contact the Arts Council at least 60 days before the trip.

The schedule is as follows:

* Easton, Oxford and St. Michaels: leaving at 8 a.m. and returning at 6 p.m. on Sept. 10. The three towns will be visited, including the Academy of Arts, lunch at the Robert Morris Inn, shopping and an optional tour of the Maritime Museum.

The cost is $40 for members and $45 for nonmembers. Reservations close Aug. 22.

* The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City: leaving at 7 a.m. and returning at 11 p.m. on Oct. 8. The trip includes a tour of the newly redecorated museum, lunch on your own and optional tours of other nearby museums.

The cost is $40 for members and $45 for nonmembers. Reservations close on Sept. 9.

* Winterthur Museum and Gardens, Wilmington, Del.: leaving at 8 a.m. and returning at 6 p.m. on Nov. 12. Henry du Pont's home will be decorated for an early-American Christmas. Travelers can have lunch and visit the gift shop after touring the house and grounds.

The cost is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Reservations close on Oct. 19.

* Christmas in New York, New York City: leaving at 7 a.m. and returning at 11 p.m. on Dec. 7. Stroll down Fifth Avenue, see the decorations, shop, have lunch and take a carriage ride in Central Park. The cost is $35 for members and $40 for nonmembers. Reservations close on Nov. 16.

* Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington: leaving at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 5 p.m. on Jan. 7. Visit this U.S. view of the Holocaust and have lunch on your own.

The cost is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Reservations close on Dec. 16.

* Virginia Museum of Fine Arts/Jefferson Hotel, Richmond, Va.: leaving at 8 a.m. and returning at 8 p.m. on March 12. Have a champagne brunch in the historic Jefferson Hotel, tour Capitol Square and the Capitol building, then visit the museum.

The cost is $60 for members and $65 for nonmembers. Reservations close on Feb. 24. Note: Jackets and ties are suggested.

* Hammond-Harwood House and Paca House and Gardens, Annapolis: leaving at 8 a.m. and returning at 5 p.m. on April 22. Visit the State House and Governor's Mansion, have lunch at the Treaty of Paris Restaurant, then take a tour of two of the 18th-century homes.

The cost is $40 for members and $45 for nonmembers. Reservations close on March 22.

* Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pa.: leaving at 8 a.m. and returning at 6 p.m. on May 6. Visit the 1,050 acres of landscaped gardens, meadows and woodlands, then have lunch at the Terrace Restaurant.

The cost is $40 for members and $45 for nonmembers. Reservations close April 12.
