Commissioner hopefuls invited to meeting

The Carroll County Taxpayers Association has invited all candidates who are running for the office of county commissioner to speak at a general meeting, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15 in Room 7, Carroll County Office Building, 225 N. Center St., Westminster.

Aug. 15 is last day to register for primary

Residents have until Aug. 15 to register for the Sept. 13 Maryland primary.

An individual may register to vote if he or she is a U.S. citizen who resides in Maryland who will be 18 years old by Nov. 8 and who is not disqualified by a criminal record or under

guardianship for mental disability.

Voter registration applications are available at post offices, libraries, schools, community college and at the Carroll County Board of Supervisors of Elections, 125 N. Court St., Westminster, 876-2085.

Those who have changed address or name since the last election are at risk of losing their voter registration. If a person has moved from one jurisdiction to another, he or she must register with the new residence jurisdiction.

Voter registrations received in the mail after Aug. 15 must be postmarked on or before Aug. 15 and received no later than 4 p.m. Aug. 17.

Republican Club plans annual corn roast

The West Carroll Republican Club will have its third annual corn roast at 4 p.m. Aug. 14 at the New Windsor Carnival Grounds.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $1 for children 6 to 12. The menu includes chicken.

Deitchman committee to hold fund-raiser

The Committee to Elect Phil Deitchman has planned a fund-raiser Aug. 16, beginning at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and the concluding program at 9 p.m. at Frock's Sunnybrook Farm in Westminster.

A donation of $20 per person is asked and may be made payable to Committee to Elect Phil Deitchman.
