Epiphany Episcopal guild to hold sale

The Epiphany Episcopal Church Service Guild is holding a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 at the church on Odenton Road. Baked goods, cookbooks, toys, jewelry, clothing and household items will be among the items on sale. Hot dogs also will be sold. No rental table space is available. Donations will be accepted. The Gambrills Teen Club will be going to King's Dominionon Sept. 11. The buses will leave at 7:30 a.m. and return around 10 p.m. Two buses are reserved to hold 92 teens and chaperones. The $36 fee includes admission and bus fare. All members are encouraged to bring guests and invite them to become members. New members only have to add a $5 dues charge to the cost of the trip. The bus will stop at a McDonald's on the return trip, so be sure to bring enough cash. Permission/waiver forms and fees can be dropped off at the next Teen Club meeting, or mailed to Linda Phipps at 981 Bowie Shop Road, Huntington 20639. The forms and payment also can be dropped off at Frank's Photography on Route 175. The trip is free for members who have 75 percent participation points. However, you still need to turn in your money and forms to reserve a seat on the bus. Your check or cash will be returned the day of the trip. State Sen. John A. Cade will be the special guest at the Best of the West Party, a fund-raiser to support Bert Rice for County Council, District 4. The fund-raiser will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight Aug. 20 at Baldwin Hall, Generals Highway and Millersville Road in Millersville. The party will feature music, dancing and food. Barbecue beef, hot dogs, beans, salads, desserts, beer, soft drinks, tea and coffee will be on sale. Tickets for the event are $15 per person. Children under age 12 will get in free. Supporters are urged to wear casual or western garb. Besides door prizes, there will be prizes for the best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl. Let the scouts, their parents and their leaders put a shine on your car! Cub Scout Pack 663 will hold a car wash from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Maryland National Bank at Crain Highway and Hospital Drive. All proceeds go to support scouting activities. The O'Malley Senior Center's Flower and Herb Guild will discuss shade gardening and the "Hostas" from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17. The "Hostas" was voted perennial plant of the '90s by the National Perennial Plant Association. New members are always welcome .
