Top times by a number of swimmers and a strong showing by the 9-10-year-old boys team weren't enough to give the North St. John Super Swans a win last week, as the local team fell to host Springlake, 290-190.

The 9-10 boys swept the individual medley, freestyle and butterfly events to help keep the Swans in the meet.

The combination of Drew Weigl (first in IM, second in freestyle), Chris Dodds (second in IM), David Rahl (third in IM and freestyle, second in butterfly), Doug Sasso (first in freestyle and butterfly) and Kevin Rodkey (third in butterfly) gave Springlake fits all day.

The Swans also scored another sweep in the 15-18 freestyle, where Jonathan Lang, Tim Koenig and Shaun Koenig finished 1-2-3.

High point earners for the Howard team were Laura Curcio (IM, freestyle, butterfly), Lang (IM, freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke), Matthew Lang (IM, butterfly, breaststroke, relay), Matt Otto (IM, freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke), Sasso (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, relay) and Weigl (IM, breast, relay).

Each earned multiple blue ribbons.
