Atlanta Braves -- Recalled 3B Terry Pendleton from his injury rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Greenville and reinstated him from the 15-day DL. Optioned P Mike Mordecai to Triple-A Richmond.

Cleveland Indians -- Signed manager Mike Hargrove to a contract extension through 1996, with a club option for 1997. Optioned P Jerry DiPoto to Triple-A Charlotte. Called up P Albie Lopez from Charlotte.

New York Mets -- Placed P Pete Smith on the 15-day DL, retroactive to July 18, with weakness in his right shoulder. Recalled P Juan Castillo from Double-A Binghamton.

Philadelphia Phillies -- Activated P Curt Schilling from the 15-day DL.

Los Angeles Lakers -- Reach an Agreement with G/F Eddie Jones on a six-year contract

San Francisco 49ers -- Waived DE Karl Wilson.

Hockey

NHL -- Suspended Mike Keenan for 60 days beginning yesterday, fined him $100,000 and ordered him to return four-fifths of his $500,000 signing bonus with the New York Rangers. Fined the St. Louis Blues $250,000. Fined the Detroit Red Wings, who tried to hire Keenan before he agreed to terms with the Blues, $25,000.

St. Louis Blues -- Named Bob Berry associate coach.
