* William B. Dulany, prominent Westminster attorney, was named by Gov. Marvin Mandel to represent Carroll County on the Maryland Human Relations Commission. In addition to Carroll County, Dulany will represent Allegany, Garrett, Frederick and Howard counties. He succeeds Helen Shroyer, who served on the commission for four years. -- Democratic Advocate, July 21, 1969.

* Miss Justina C. Crosby, home demonstration agent for Carroll County, attended the statewide Home Demonstration Agents Conference at the University of Maryland at College Park. The agents from the 23 Maryland counties and the four assistant agents conferred with specialists and discussed plans for this year and the post-war period. Taking into consideration that a good percentage of postwar spending will be for housing, the Home Furnishing Committee planned a study program of

adequate and well-arranged homes. -- Democratic Advocate, July 21, 1944.

* That even a Ford will indulge in mischievous pranks was proven beyond the shadow of a doubt on Tuesday afternoon when Rev. Ibach, after overhauling and cleaning his machine and forgetting that he had left the oils which he had taken out standing beneath the machine, filled the tank and proceeded to find out just how "Lizzie" would appreciate the renovation and kind treatment. The spark proved to be good -- so good that it not only ignited the charge within the engine, but that left standing beneath the machine and for a time it looked as though a serious fire might occur but as the Rev. was equal to the emergency no serious damage was done. -- Union Bridge Pilot, July 18, 1919.
