American League -- Suspended Cleveland Indians OF Albert Belle for 10 days after cork was found in his confiscated bat. He appealed, delaying suspension until a hearing before league president Bobby Brown July 29 in New York.

New York Yankees -- Recalled P Sterling Hitchcock from Double-A Albany. Optioned SS Dave Silvestri to Triple-A Columbus.

Seattle Mariners -- Signed OF Doug Carroll and 3B Randy Vickers.

Toronto Blue Jays -- Placed OF Mike Huff on the 15-day DL, retroactive to July 16. Recalled OF Robert Perez from Triple-A Syracuse.

Basketball

Golden State Warriors -- Acquired G Ricky Pierce, the rights to first-round draft pick C Carlos Rogers and two 1995 second-round draft picks from the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for G Sarunas Marciulionis and F Byron Houston.
