Clerk strikes would-be robber at gas station

A clerk at the Pasadena Gas & Go in the 8200 block of Ritchie Highway foiled an attempted robbery Saturday morning when he slugged the suspect, county police said.

The clerk, whose name police would not release, was in the station when a man came in and grabbed him by the neck shortly after 1 a.m., police said. The man ordered the clerk to give him money. As the clerk tried to back away, he swung at the man, hitting him in the left jaw, police said.

The suspect released the clerk and fled on foot, police said.

Man charged with indecent exposure

A 33-year-old Pasadena man was arrested Saturday evening after being accused of doing headstands while naked in the muddy water in the 700 block of Powhatan Beach Road, authorities said.

Eastern District officers found him around 6 p.m. after investigating a citizen's complaint about a naked man doing headstands in the Stoney Creek, police said. He was arrested in a vacant house behind another house in the 7700 block of W. Shore Road, police said.

Richard Peter Chenowith Jr. of the 7700 block of W. Shore Road was charged with indecent exposure, police said.
