Man, 47, is fatally wounded near his Coldstream home

July 18, 1994

BALTIMORE -- A 47-year-old resident of the Coldstream community was shot and killed last night a block from his home.

Pronounced dead at the scene, the 1700 block of E. 29th St., from multiple gunshot wounds to the head was James Collins, of the 1800 block of E. 29th St.

Mr. Collins was found lying on the pavement shortly before 9:30 p.m. by police responding to a report of a shooting.

Police said Mr. Collins and his wife, a resident of Essex, had driven to New York over the weekend and for an unknown reason the wife took her husband's money and keys and returned to Baltimore, reportedly alone.

From New York, Mr. Collins somehow made his way to his wife's apartment in Essex, where they reportedly became involved in an argument before Mr. Collins left.

Police said it wasn't immediately known if the couple's argument was connected with the man's death.
