Firefighters have new ambulance

July 18, 1994

The Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department put a new advanced life support ambulance into service June 13.

The 1994 McCoy-Miller F-350 chassis replaced a 1986 Ford Horton ambulance. The department traded the old ambulance for $18,000 toward the $65,000 McCoy-Miller, said Dave Bettinger, a firefighter and intravenous technician

The new vehicle, which was custom-designed to the station's specifications, features tools that personnel need when answering different kinds of calls, he said.

Mr. Bettinger said half the cost of the new ambulance was covered by donations to the company.
