Vandals smash mailboxes three seen fleeing area

Vandals damaged at least eight mailboxes in the Severna Park community of Smugglers Cove Tuesday morning, county police said.

The culprits used a stick or baseball bat to smash the mailboxes, police said. The vandalism occurred between midnight and 2 a.m. A resident of Linda Lane told police he saw three youths run from the area shortly before 12:30 a.m.

They ranged in age from 12 to 16, police said.

Four mailboxes on Giddings Avenue, one on McKinsey Road, two on Kathleen Avenue and one on Marie Avenue were damaged, police said. Police have no detailed description of the suspects.
