Orioles -- Activated 1B Paul Carey from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester. Sent P Rick Forney outright to Double-A Bowie.

Chicago White Sox -- Sent 2B Joey Cora to Single-A South Bend for an injury rehabilitation assignment. Agreed to terms with 1B Mark Johnson.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Called up P Rich Robertson from Triple-A Buffalo. Designated former Orioles P Jeff Ballard for assignment. Sent 1B Kevin Young to Buffalo.

Big East Conference -- Announced it has accepted Notre Dame as a member for all sports except football starting with the 1995-96 academic year.

Creighton -- Named Len Gordy men's assistant basketball coach.

DePaul -- Promoted Jean Lenti Ponsetto to senior associate athletic director.
