Man with knife robs store on Crain Highway

A man wielding a kitchen knife robbed the Foods R In store in the 7900 block of Crain Highway yesterday morning of an undisclosed amount of cash and three packs of cigarettes, county police said.

The man came into the store around 3 a.m. and bought a candy bar, then pulled out the knife and told the clerk to open the register, police said. The robber took the cash and the cigarettes and fled on foot, police said.

Woman with knife holds up store

A woman armed with a knife robbed a Sam Goody store in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway Friday morning of an undisclosed amount of cash, county police said.

The woman entered the store shortly before 10:30 a.m., ordered an employee to lock the front door and pulled out a 4- to 5-inch knife, police said. After the door was locked, the woman ordered the employee to open the safe. The woman then took money from the safe and two cash registers and had the employee unlock the door. She fled north on Ritchie Highway in a gray, older model Chevrolet Monte Carlo, police said.

The suspect was described as a white female in her mid-20s, standing about 5 foot 7, weighing about 130 pounds and with dirty-blond hair. She was wearing a light T-shirt, light-brown shorts and shoes, but no socks, police said.
