Mariners update Mariners statistics

The Mariners (35-45) failed yesterday to get their first three-game series sweep at Yankee Stadium as New York defeated them, 5-2. The loss stopped a season-high four-game win streak. The Mariners still own the second-worst road record in the American League. They have increased their run production, scoring 18 runs in their past three games. Their eight-run fifth inning Saturday was the biggest inning for the Mariners this season. Center fielder Ken Griffey went 8-for-14 in the Yankees series, but had only two RBIs and has not hit a home run in eight games since hitting his major league-leading 32nd homer. Right fielder Jay Buhner missed the past two games with a bruised pelvis suffered Friday. He is second behind Griffey in home runs and RBIs on the club. Chris Bosio will be making his first start in Baltimore since the June 1993 bench-clearing brawl in which he was involved. The Mariners, who will face two left-handers this series, are 14-6 against them this season.
