Navratilova leaves Centre stage in style

Tune in today and enjoy Martina Navratilova's going out in style (win or lose) in the Wimbledon women's final, and Germany and Switzerland facing Belgium and Spain, respectively, in the first two second-round games of World Cup Soccer.

* "Wimbledon tennis women's final." (9 a.m.-conclusion, WMAR, Channel 2) -- Billie Jean King had worried that, due to the luck of the draw and the upset defeats of some major seeds, Ms. Navratilova had yet to be truly tested as she advanced through the Wimbledon tournament. She was tested Thursday, fighting off a second-set tie-breaker advantage by Gigi Fernandez that would have evened the match, and winning the right to face Conchita Martinez in today's final. Ms. Navratilova has three things in her favor. One, Ms. Martinez has yet to win a grass-court title, while Ms. Navratilova has won nine at Wimbledon alone. Two, just about everyone at Centre Court, except for Ms. Martinez's family and friends, will be rooting for Ms. Navratilova. Three, Ms. Navratilova, having announced her retirement in advance, has the added impetus of going out a champion, something too few sports figures have the opportunity or discipline to do. NBC.

* "World Cup Soccer: Germany vs. Belgium." (1:30 p.m.-conclusion, Ch. 6) -- From this point on in World Cup play, it's single elimination. Lose, and you go home. Tie at the end of regulation, and you fight it out with penalty kicks until someone wins. Germany, the defending World Cup champion, takes on underdog Belgium in this ABC-televised game, and is expected to win. ABC.

* "Wyatt Earp: Return to Tombstone." (9 p.m.-11 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- This latest Earp drama, on the heels of two Wyatt Earp movies, recycles Hugh O'Brien's old TV series (1955-1961), and old Mr. O'Brien himself. CBS.

* "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" (8 p.m.-10 p.m., HBO) -- Having targeted other movie genres in his previous films, Mel Brooks takes aim at the legend of Sherwood Forest's hero in this frequently funny 1993 parody. It features Cary Elwes in the title role. Richard Lewis, Roger Rees, Isaac Hayes and Tracey Ullman also take part.
