ARREST: Southwestern District -- A slightly built man in his 20s was arrested early today after city firefighters freed him from inside the narrow ventilation shaft of Andre's pit beef, deli and pizza in the 2800 block of Wilkens Ave. The man entered the shaft feet first from atop the roof after climbing onto a barrel behind the building. However, he was unable to slip through the narrow opening once inside the building. A woman talking on a telephone near the carryout saw two other men flee from the rear of the building before she spotted the man's feet dangling from the end of the shaft near the work area. She called the police. Officer John Johnson said the man, who was trapped for nearly 30 minutes, denied breaking into the carryout. He reportedly faces burglary charges.

THEFT: Southwestern District -- Someone entered a city-owned truck parked in the 3000 block of Windsor Mill Road Wednesday and stole property valued at $100.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A man was walking in the 3000 block of Franklin St. Wednesday when a gunman robbed him of property valued at nearly $200.

THEFT: Southwestern District -- Two men pretending to be bail bondsmen entered a house in the 2000 block of W. Baltimore St. Wednesday through the rear and front doors and stole property valued at nearly $250.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A man was in the 1000 block of N. Hilton St. Wednesday when he was knocked to the pavement by another man who robbed him of property reportedly valued at more than $100.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone entered a house in the 2300 block of Belair Road through the front door Wednesday and stole a TV, VCR, two radios and a fan, all valued at more than $700.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 5500 block of Gwynn Oak Ave. was in the 3700 block of Cottage Ave. Wednesday when a man struck him in the face and robbed him of his Independence card.

STOLEN CAR: Northwestern District -- A 1984 Toyota Camry with Maryland tags TEC 781 was stolen from the 5900 block of Winner Ave. Wednesday.

Baltimore County

ROBBERY: Woodlawn Precinct -- Two men, one with a handgun, robbed the Wendy's restaurant in the 1600 block of Whitehead Court of an undisclosed sum of money Wednesday. One employee was outside around 8:30 a.m. when two men forced him inside at gunpoint. There, the bandits forced that employee and four others into a walk-in freezer before stealing a bank bag containing money. During the robbery, one of the employees was struck with the gun. After the bandits fled, the employees exited the freezer and called the police.

BURGLARY: Essex Precinct -- Someone entered a home in the 12900 block of Harewood Road in Harewood Park at Chase through the front door and stole tools and a motorcycle helmet, all reportedly valued at $800.
