June 30, 1994

Westminster police arrested a New Windsor woman and charged her with possession of drugs and paraphernalia about 3 a.m. Sunday.

Sheree E. Bell, 35, of Springdale Road also was charged with driving on a suspended license.

She was released Sunday evening after posting bail, which was set at $20,000, authorities said.

Lt. Randy Barnes. a city police spokesman, said an officer noticed a vehicle with an expired license plate on Charles Street and attempted to stop the car. He said that the vehicle did not stop immediately and that the officer saw a woman appear to throw something out the driver's window.

The officer was able to get ahead of the car and stop it, but the driver put the car in reverse in an attempt to flee, Lieutenant Barnes said. After police finally were able to stop the car, the driver was seen tossing something under the vehicle, he said.

A glass tube, such as the kind used for smoking cocaine, was recovered from under the car, Lieutenant Barnes said.

A 35mm film canister containing residue of cocaine was found in a purse in the car, police reported.
