6 seriously hurt in Elkridge collision

Six people were seriously injured when two cars collided on Route 1 in Elkridge yesterday morning, county police said.

About 8:25 a.m., the driver of a southbound Buick was making a left turn into a McDonald's restaurant parking lot in the 6200 block of Route 1 when his car was struck on the passenger side by a northbound Chevrolet, police said.

The driver of the Buick, Raymond Dailey Sr., 70, of the 10,000 block of Guilford Road, Jessup, and his wife, Audrey, 64, were taken to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The couple were being treated for chest injuries and were in serious but stable condition, county fire and rescue officials said.

Their two granddaughters, ages 3 and 7, were taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Barbara Stockford, 29, of the 7000 block of Montgomery Road, Elkridge, and her 5-year-old daughter were also taken to the Shock Trauma Center. Both were both listed in serious but stable condition, police said.

Police are investigating the accident.
