June 22, 1994

A 15-year-old Baltimore boy driving a stolen car led authorities on a chase from Town Center into Anne Arundel County Monday afternoon before crashing the vehicle into a truck, Howard County police said.

About 2:45 p.m. Monday, officers responding to a report of a car theft in progress at the Commerce One Center saw a boy matching the suspect's description driving out of a garage in a 1991 Hyundai Sonata.

Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver passed cruisers and headed east on Route 175, eventually crossing the Howard County line.

Anne Arundel County police joined the pursuit, which ended when the stolen car crashed into the rear of a tow truck at the intersection of Route 175 and Brock Bridge Road.

No one was injured.

The youth, who wasn't identified because of his age, was arrested and charged with felony auto theft, unauthorized use of vehicle, fleeing and eluding police and driving without a license.

Police said the boy was taken to the Charles Hickey School in Baltimore County.
