Snakes alive!

Lloyd Tydings, of The Nature Company in Annapolis, will bring some of his scaly friends to local library branches this summer during the Summer Reading Program, June 20 to Aug. 20, for children entering grades one through six in the fall.

The topic is snakes -- their habits, how they eat and grow, and their place in the natural world. The show focuses on snakes indigenous to Maryland. Snakes on hand may include a king snake, a black rat snake and a corn snake.

Registration is not required for the free, one-hour program, but seating is limited. Mr. Tydings will take his snakes to the Odenton library branch, 1270 Odenton Road, at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. June 28. He will be at the Provinces Branch, in Severn Square shopping center on state Route 175 at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. July 5.

For more information about the summer reading program, call the branches or library headquarters at 222-7371.
