Parent can't wait for fall and start of school

June 21, 1994|By SUE HALLER

One day down and the rest of the summer to go for all of us with kids out of school.

I have two at home for the summer and already the "We don't jTC have anything to do" blues sounds like a broken record.

Hang on, folks, September is closer than you think.

The Crofton Teen Club is holding a pool party/dance from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. June 29 at the Crofton Swim and Tennis Club off Reynolds Street.

The party is open to youngsters 13-17. The $3 per person admission fee covers the cost of pizza, soda, volleyball and a disc jockey.

The club will help the Crofton Jaycees with the Fourth of July weekend celebration and with preparations for the community block party Aug. 2 for National Night Out.

Volunteering for these two events counts toward community service learning that is required for high school graduation.

For more information on events sponsored by the teen club, call Debbie at 721-2301.

Community United Methodist Church on Riedel Road will hold a Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon July 18-22 for kids entering kindergarten through the fifth grade.

Registration is limited and the cost is $5. Volunteers are needed and a nursery is provided for those who volunteer to teach.

For information or to register, call the church at 721-9129.

The Crofton Swim and Tennis Club will have its next adult members-only party July 22.

Members over the age of 21 are invited to a toga party that will begin at 8:15 p.m. A dance contest will be held and cruise tickets will be given away for the most colorful attire.

For more information, contact Bob Zurfluh at 721-6447.

The Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce Education Committee will meet Thursday to discuss creating an active partnership between Crofton schools and local businesses.

The meeting will be at Signet Bank in Crofton Center from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

New members are welcome.

For more information, call Mike Finelly, 721-2298, or Martha Brown, 721-1500.

The Crofton Jaycees are looking for people interested in participating in its Fourth of July weekend celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 3 at Crofton Elementary School. They also need people to organize games and help with set up.

If you are interested in helping with this event, call Michele Devine 721-7016.

You have only until June 30 to register for the Crofton Athletic Council fall sports before fees increase.

Pick up forms at the Crofton Library, Crofton Town Hall or Play It Again Sports.

For more information, call registrar Deb Klein, 451-2211. For soccer, call Tom Shelly, 721-1844, for football, Pete Glamp, 721-7122.
