BREAKING AND ENTERING, ARSON: Western District -- A small fire discovered by police officers about 5:15 a.m. yesterday at Calverton Middle School, in the 1100 Whitmore Ave., caused about $500 worth of damage. Police said they had no suspects, and that the break-in and arson remained under investigation.

SHOOTING: Southeastern District -- A 21-year-old man who was standing with his wife in the 300 block of S. Broadway was shot twice in the groin area by a gunman who approached them about 2 a.m. The victim told police he was shot after grabbing the gun and struggling with the assailant. He was listed in good condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, police said.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Five girls between the ages of 13 and 16 approached two teen-age girls in the 2500 block of Harford Road about 8:45 Saturday night and robbed them. A beeper and an unknown amount of money were taken from a 14-year-old girl and $75 and a pair of 14-karat gold earrings was taken from a 13-year-old girl.

VANDALISM: Western District -- Vandals broke into Franklin Square Elementary School in the 1400 block of W. Lexington St. between 6:50 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. Saturday and destroyed four doors valued at a total of $150.

RAPE: Western District -- A 24-year-old woman told police she was beaten and raped at her home

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Western District -- A 24-year-old man was beaten with a pipe about 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Harlem Ave. Police charged a 19-year-old man with assault.

STOLEN AUTO: Western District -- A 1979 Chrysler LeBaron, tag numbers unknown, was reported stolen from the 1900 block of N. Monroe St. about 9:45 p.m. on Friday. Police said the keys had been left in the car.

BREAKING AND ENTERING: Southwestern District -- A portable radio worth $120, a VCR valued at $200, and an unknown amount of money were taken from a house in the 2400 block of Wilkens Ave. between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday.

BREAKING AND ENTERING: Southwestern District -- A burglar broke into an unoccupied home in the 3200 block of Elgin Ave. between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. yesterday by breaking a back window and unlocking it. A VCR worth $250 and about $30 in coins were stolen.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT:AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Southeastern District -- A 35-year-old man was shot with an air pellet gun about 3:40 a.m. yesterday as he walked into an alley in the 4100 block of Frederick Ave. He was released after treatment at St. Agnes Hospital for two puncture wounds in his right arm. Police charged a 32-year-old man with assault.
