A 42-year-old Frederick man was arrested on burglary charges after an Ellicott City resident told police he saw a man climbing from an apartment window Tuesday afternoon, Howard County police said.

Charles William Magez of the 1400 block of Key Parkway was released on an unsecured bond Tuesday, a Howard District Court commissioner said.

About 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, officers responding to reports of a breaking and entering in progress in the 8600 block of Town and Country Boulevard were directed to a man as he was leaving the area.

Police say a witness told them he heard the sound of breaking glass and saw the man climbing from a window in a ground-floor apartment.
