The Taneytown concerts in the park are back.

Six concerts are scheduled for this summer, the first of which will be Sunday.

Arthur Nash and his Country Group will begin performing at 6 p.m. at the entrance to Taneytown Memorial Park. To ensure you have the best seats available, please bring your own lawn chairs.

Other scheduled performances include:

* July 17 -- The Electric Brigade from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis;

* July 24 -- Masters Four Gospel Quartet;

* Aug. 14 -- Pointer Ridge, with country music;

* Aug. 28 -- Westminster Municipal Band; and

* Sept 11 -- William F. Myers Band.

Each concert will begin at 6 p.m. They will all be held in the same location with the same seating arrangements. In case of rain, the event will be canceled.

"The concerts are for people's enjoyment," said Fairy Flickinger, chairwoman of the Concerts in the Park Committee. "We think the arts should be supported."

She invites everyone to attend the free events.

The concerts in the park are possible because of donations from local businesses. Sponsors of the concerts include Sheetz, Crouse Ford Sales, Taneytown Bank and Trust Co., Wantz Chevrolet, Antrim 1844, Pizza Hut of Maryland, Taneytown Heritage Committee, Carroll County Bank and Trust, the daytime senior citizens of Taneytown Senior Center, the City of Taneytown, Board of Parks and Recreation of Taneytown, and Bob and Fairy Flickinger of the Concerts in the Park Committee.

If you would like to contribute to this program, please call Mr. or Mrs. Flickinger at 756-2245.
